Cool Catskills Wedding & New Client

The barn at the top belongs to a new client of ours. I have not seen the inside yet, but I have heard it is really cool. So are the pictures of their wedding which was featured on Martha Stewart's website. If you search "Catskills Wedding" you can find the complete feature on it. I really love the rings in the little nest, the honey favors, the heart shaped mowed field where they held the ceremony, and the fact that they held the reception in the barn where they are now living. These pictures make me really long for Spring! We live in such a pretty area 3 seasons of the year, but this Winter thing is getting rather old :)

Home of the Week

This Boerum Hill beauty was featured in the NYT real estate section yesterday. I just happened to be reading that section on the way to Brooklyn yesterday + we just happened to be in the same neighborhood to get the girls haircuts, so we strolled over for the open house. 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, lots of sun-filled living space, garden views out the windows, great neighborhood, and totally affordable. It is nice to see a different kind of home with a different design style.

Stone Cottage

Ok, so this one was not in a magazine this month, but it totally could be. (I took these pictures this morning with Baby c on my hip.) This little stone cottage is a few miles away + is one of our new property management houses. It is design perfection in my book. I loved it the second I stepped foot in the door. So cozy + warm. A perfect place to escape the city for a weekend. Curl up by the fire with a book. Enjoy a yummy pot roast dinner. Collect leaves on a fall hike. You get the picture. Enjoy the pics...Happy Friday!

Catskill Mt Views...

Remember when I mentioned the cool homes + abundance of farm chic interior design we have where we live? Well, here is yet another one. I opened Country Living this month and saw this gorgeous farmhouse that is about 5 minutes away. The before + after pictures are amazing. Love the decorating in this place! Enjoy and stay tuned for more interesting, beautiful, and blog worthy design right here in the Catskill Mountains.
(all photos from Country Living, you can see the whole story there also)
PS- We recently purchased a used wagon to spread all the miles I drive between two cars + for school carpooling purposes + a little because I have secretly always loved these particular wagons. Anyway, we purchased it from friends who had purchased it from another family nearby + I swear that black wagon in the picture is the same one that is sitting in our driveway. So funny!

Catskills Summer Rental...

This grey beauty is a home we manage + rent also. If you could have seen this place 2 years ago...what a difference! It was for sale when we were house hunting. We saw the listing with pictures online and that was as far as we got. Never saw it in person because we were scared away by the interior shots. However, a very nice English couple from the city saw it too. They had major vision + turned it into what you see above. She is a furniture designer, he is a broker for Burgess yachts. What they created is amazing. The home has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms + lots of great entertaining space. We arranged for photographer, Michael Bloom (http://www.michaelbloomphoto.com/) to take some pictures (his work above) of the home when the couple decided to rent it as a vacation home. So I am showing this country getaway for three reasons. It is very appealing from a design aspect. I love how they mixed antiques, IKEA furniture +designer pieces. #2 If you know anyone interested in renting, please let us know. Please leave a comment. I will get back to you ASAP, there is some availability in August + in the Fall too. #3 Isn't it amazing what a difference professional pictures + a little staging can do for a place? Barefoot Dad gets numerous inquiries daily on this house + I believe it is due to the eye-catching pictures.

For more info the rental listing can be viewed at www.homeaway.com

It is property #281219

Gone Fishing...

(Before)

I always enjoy great interior design, but I love when I come across something I like, and then read a little and find out it is in my backyard. So fun! Being just 2 hours from NYC, we have an abundance of very cool homes hidden in the mountains here. Like this amazing "fishing shack" above that was featured in the New York Times. The before + after pictures were shocking. It is the home of Melanie Brandman, a world traveler + PR guru. Not sure about you, but I would love a nap in that daybed above, or to host a cocktail party at the outdoor dining space overlooking the lake. I want to go fishing here!

Home Sweet Home

Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that this will be our new door in a couple of weeks. The Barefoot Family will hopefully be on the move sometime during the holiday season. We found a place to call Home Sweet Home. We are just waiting for some "red tape" issues to be taken care of, but thus far the process has been a smooth one. We are ALL so EXCITED, GRATEFUL, and BLESSED!!! More details to come when our dream comes true...

Home of the Week #3

I snapped some pictures of this adorable house in Cape Cod while we stopped for a roadside potty break. I love the 'grey ladies' of New England. This little cottage looked so cute and cozy, I could not resist.

A Green Modular, Part II

Here are my pictures that I took last week when we checked out the green modular. Not as pretty as the Country Living photos, but I was able to get pictures of almost all of the rooms in the house. The farmhouse was awesome inside and out. 1,800 square feet of well-planned pure charm. Perfect for a family. I loved the wood burning fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom. There was a half bath on the first floor and two full baths on the second floor. Two decent sized bedrooms and one big master with a walk in closet. Lots of porches, wide plank floors and closet space. What more could you ask for in a new old farmhouse? All delivered and finished in 60 days. Pretty impressive. The only catch...also pretty expensive. You can budget about $200 a square foot not including land. Green really means more green ($$$$) in this case.
