A Bucket of Love

Bartles

This is the horse that BP has been riding lately. She really likes him! "Big Bartles" is what she calls him. He is over 16 hands and used to be a jumper, but injured his leg a few years ago. They brought him out of retirement to walk / trot with BP. They have bonded and he is like a big puppy. A really big puppy! He loves to have his neck scratched and follow BP around the barn. They are very cute together!

Pig Tails

4th of July Parade

The Cape May 4th of July parade has become a traditon for us. This was our third year. BP loves parades and loves them even more if she can be in them. She is perfectly comfortable waving and smiling to strangers. Whose child is she?

Unfortunately the parade was at 1:30 and BB slept through half of it. Daddy and BP did the whole thing, with BP pedaling her little bike down Beach Drive determined to make it to the end. I woke BB, and along with Uncle Matt and Aunt Cole, we booked down to the parade only to miss BP go by and then catch the very end. Oh well, better luck next year.

I know, I know she still has the nukie in her mouth. I am a terrible mother. She loves the thing. She sucks it like it is her job. It is leaving next week after our airplane trip. I promise! Any tips on taking it away after 20 months would greatly be appreciated.

Thank You Matt & Cole

This picture was given to me for my birthday last week.
What a surprise! Thanks Matt and Cole for thinking of me!
It looks perfect in our dining room. Cannot wait until your next visit so you can see it.

Trouble...

Her nickname should just be Trouble. She finds it everywhere! She is into everything! She is absolutely exhausting!
But she is so darn cute. Each night I still rock her to sleep in my arms and she looks so peacful and innocent it is hard to believe the havoc she reeks in a 24 hour period. Ha!!!

4th Flashback...

We returned from the beach and our 4th of July vacation late Monday night. I am still trying to get caught up and get back into the swing of things here. I will post more pics about our time away. Until I get a free minute, here is the ginormous flag we watched Papa and Daddy hang. And here is BP and BB in all their patriotic glory on the big day.

It's the Little Things...

It's the little things in life that make me smile. Like shelves in our laundry room. They are old cedar doors cut in half and hung. Not only do they smell good, but they are very practical and recycled!

Then and Now...

I love repurposing antiques in our home. Check out this old milk bottle carrier turned wine bottle holder!

Jadeite

About 10 years ago I began a slight obsession with Jadeite. To be honest I have an obsession with all dishes, and if I did not realize how ridiculous and impractical it would be to own 50 different patterns...well, I would own 50 different patterns. BUT, I do realize and I have cut myself off at 4. Jadeite is one that made the cut. I love its creamy, milky green, semi-translucnet quality. It looks different in all lights and depending on what kind of food or beverage is in it. I love that mysterious quality about it...it can never be boring. And so Jadeite has a special place on my shelves and in my home. It is hard to find and slightly pricey, which is funny because it is from the 40's, 50's, and 60's and they used to give it away then. The Anchor Hocking Glass company produced it and then it was given away in grocery stores and such for promotional reasons. For example, you could get a set of Jadeite if you bought a certain amount of flour or sugar. It was also used in diners, school cafeterias, and military bases because its durability was unmatched. In our new kitchen there is a very high and narrow ledge that I placed a couple Jadeite egg cups on when we moved in, and I love the look. I found one more egg cup recently and added it to my collection. It may take ten years to fill the ledge, but that is the joy of collecting!
