Poor BB!

While BP rides, BB plays in the dirt ouside the ring. Poor BB! She wants so badly to be 3... My heart breaks for her, especially when she chants "Me! Me!" from the sidelines.

Eating Ice Cream

They really enjoyed the homemade vanilla with pink and purple sprinkles in little waffle bowls. We had ours with homemade blueberry crumb cake. Yum!! Aunt Nicole is a 1st grade teacher, but could totally be the next Sandra Lee.

Making Ice Cream

The Barefoot Princess made ice cream with her Aunt Nicole on Saturday. Not only does she love ice cream, but she loves Aunt Nicole too!

Keen Sneaks

Daddy found these pink and purple canvas Keen sneakers at Morgan Outdoors. They happened to have an 11 and an 8 just for BP and BB. Great summer shoes! Thanks Daddy!

Riding Lesson

The Barefoot Princess had her first real riding lesson yesterday. She rode a big pony / small horse named Buzz. Buzz and I had a talk and he promised to keep her safe. I think he was half a sleep during most of the lesson, which was fine by me. BP immediately connected with Sara, her instructor, and was very talkative and confident. I stood back and watched a new BP yesterday during her hour with Sara. It was very clear that this is her thing. She followed directions...heels down, toes up, shoulders back, steer left, steer right, "whoa" to stop, and then (gasp) she and Buzz trotted. She was giddy with excitement and of course wanted to ride again tomorrow! BB got to sit on Buzz before BP untacked and brushed him. We will see Buzz and Sara again later in the week so Daddy can watch too.

First and Last

A picture from the first day of school and one from the last day of school. What a difference a school year makes. In so many ways BP has grown and changed. In Septmeber she was still 2 and a baby in so many ways. Now it is June and she has grown into a little lady.

Old Coach bag
Bright yellow construction helmet
One blue princess shoe and one purple princess shoe
She said she was going to see Daddy!

A Little Visitor

This little turtle was out near the garden. A long way from the pond. BP was scared of it and BB thought it was great.

Crazy Weather

I am pretty sure it has rained, poured, or sprinkled everyday since June 1st. Where do we live?
The other day on one side of our house it was sunny (picture #1).
On the other side it was cloudy and raining (picture #2).
And today for BP's final day of school, a day we are supposed to kick-off the Summer, yep, you guessed it, it is raining yet again. Our garden is a swamp, and I am very worried about our little seedlings being drowned.
I guess it could be worse...snow?

Barefoot

I just picked up this book last week and I am about 100 pages into it. "Barefoot" is the perfect title, right? But that is not the only reason I bought it. Elin Hilderbrand, the author, is one of my favorite fiction writers. She has written six books that all take place in one of my favortie places...Nantucket. Always great Summer reading! I would reccommend any of her books for a good beach read, especially if you have a fondness for the little island 30 miles out to sea.

Little Mountain Outfitters

Little Mountain Outfitters is a great resource for outdoor kids. They have it all. From clothing to strollers. Great packpacks and bike trailers. Lots of BPA free sippy cups and canteens, and even Camelbacks for kids. Form time to time we have searched for a place to buy children's outdoor gear and I think this is the answer.

Livie and Luca

For cute and supportive shoes and sandals check out Livie and Luca (http://www.livieandluca.com/). I ordered the yellow octopus ones for BB. I like how there is a little lip that comes up to protect her toes. Sometimes Garnet HIll also carries this brand.

Blanks in my Blog...Confession

I have been thinking about this post for a few months now. When I started our blog it was to keep an on-line memory book for the girls and us to look back at, and to fill family and friends in on the happenings in our life. Lately, I feel I have been leaving so much out. Let me back up. And try to make this as simple as possible.. BP starts school in September. She is head over heels in love with this new chapter of her life and so are we. She makes lots of new friends and one very special friend, who we will refer to as her BFF. This BFF is adorable and sweet, and just happens to have a celebrity mommy. Real celebritty, like Hollywood, like Oscar winning mommy, who is also sweet and adorable and totally down to earth and NORMAL! BFF's mom and I really bond like two normal moms with fiery 3 and a half year olds, who happen to be born in the same month just days apart. We talk gardening, raising little girls, family, life issues, love. We call on each other for questions and even emergencies. Now BP and her BFF do many things together and as always I snap pictures, but I am not able to post them or blog about fun things or special firsts because I respect this little girl and her mom and their privacy. I feel that too often they are chased by the paprazzi and their pictures are plastered on the internet, page six, and other tabloids. So for this reason there are many blanks in my blog now. I am not able to share about BP's last ballet class, events at school, kite flying, tractor rides, garden parties, etc... But rest assured, BP is having the time of her life with her BFF neighbor, just ask her sometime, and we have the memories, just not on the blog. The two girls melt hearts when they are together. Their conversations are enough to make me pull to the side of the road because I am laughing so hard. They have their moments of disagreement and we joke that they are "frenemies." Their relationship is more sister-like than anything, and both BP and BB are lucky to have this little girl in their lives. And as for myself, I am blessed to have met the mom because she is such a positive warm person whom I am sure I will stay in touch with no matter where our lives take us. So with that being said, I feel better already! And Matt, now you know why I have been slacking with the blog lately. Haha!

"Moo Park"

"Moo Park" is what The Barefoot Baby calls the park by BP's school. Why? Because there is a giant statue of a black and white Holstein cow there. All the kids sit on it and climb all over it. If the sun is shining we try to stop here for a little while after we pick BP up from school.

Hysterical!!!

I took this picture in our town during Pet Day. BP, BB, and I stood and watched this pony, well um, scratch his hiney, I guess, and laughed so hard!
You have to click to enlarge!

Carousel

Next to the Discovery Center is a carousel and The Ross Park Zoo. Because of the rain that day and the lack of time we did not get to the zoo. And for some reason the carousel was closed. The little ones were disappointed to say the least. We are planning to go back for the zoo and carousel this Summer.
