Prayers Please...

Found this picture this morning while straightening up our house. (1979 Barefoot Dad + Grandma Ruth)
We visited Grandma Ruth just last night. She is not feeling well + needs prayers.

Stone Cottage

Ok, so this one was not in a magazine this month, but it totally could be. (I took these pictures this morning with Baby c on my hip.) This little stone cottage is a few miles away + is one of our new property management houses. It is design perfection in my book. I loved it the second I stepped foot in the door. So cozy + warm. A perfect place to escape the city for a weekend. Curl up by the fire with a book. Enjoy a yummy pot roast dinner. Collect leaves on a fall hike. You get the picture. Enjoy the pics...Happy Friday!

Musical Giraffe

Baby C / Baby Giraffe at her Music Together class this week. She loves, loves, loves this class! She picked up a shaker on day 1 + started kicking her legs to the beat. From that moment on she was totally into Music Together.

Checking in with BP + BB

BP...looking all sweet with her ringlets. Looks can be deceiving. Haha.. She has finally adjusted to Kindergarten + going to school 5 full days. She is reading like crazy + asking us questions that we are not sure of the answers. Echolocation anyone? She is also pulling the teenage attitude every now + then. Fun..fun!

BB... She just looks like trouble right?
BB is loving school. She brings home a new song or story every m-w-f. She also has brought home a few new words i.e. Poopyhead. Lovely, and I guess I cannot blame school entirely. She could have come up with that on her own. Anyway...she is so animated, outgoing, + full of energy.
She will be three in one week. She wants a Spiderman + and cannonball for her birthday. I kid you not.

9 Months

Yeah...We are in shock too. Before you know it she will be blowing out her first candle.

Granny Chair

BP in the "granny chair" the day we brought it home. We found it at a local antique store for $15. Total steal! It is in great shape, has great lines, + is the perfect size to put in our kitchen. They don't make furniture like they used to + I plan to reupholster it in a flax colored linen. Now if I could just found another similar size one to put on the other side of the little table.

Basement Project

Been busy with little design / construction project in our basement the last couple of weeks. Barefoot Dad is finally going to get a home office. He really needs it! He gave up his when Baby C was born + truth be told he deserves a man place. A place to escape from the sorority house feeling he sometimes gets living with 4 girls!
The two contractors are finishing up today then we have the floor guy coming + we are going to tackle the painting ourselves. It turned out to be a pretty cool space. I will show more pics when it is finished, but here is a sneak peak of one of the sliding barn doors. My vision for the space was rustic with an urban / modern edge. Think Soho loft meets country barn. Rod + Pete, the contractors totally got my scratch pad drawings, internet print-outs + verbal descriptions. They were amazing at putting the vision to life. So now Barefoot Dad will have a place to call his own, a place to organize his office on wheels, and a place to escape the girly madness upstairs :)

Whaling Museum

On day 6 of our trip there was a threat of rain so we hit the Whaling Museum. Aunt Kim + Uncle Finn had just arrived on the island so they joined the fun. It was such a cool museum. BP, Daddy + Uncle Finn listened to a 40 minute presentation on whales + the whaling era while Aunt Kim, Baby C, BB + I explored the museum. We found the coolest children's room where we spent most of our time chatting + playing. BP, who is studying habitats in school this year, the first being the ocean, was mesmerized by the experience. When I was a kid visiting Nantucket the Whaling Museum was a tiny little brick building. They have made so much improvement to it in recent years. I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the island or even the Cape.

3 Lighthouses...1 Day

We walked to the Sankaty Head Lighthouse (pic #1) from our cottage. I think it was like 2 miles each way.
Then we drove to Nantucket town for smoothies + ran down to the Brant Point Lighthouse (pic #2).
That afternoon with a lot of air removed from the Jeep tires we drove out to the point to see the Great Point lighthouse (pic #3).
I never imagined lighthouses would be so exciting for an almost 3 year old + almost 5 year old, but they totally were. It was like finding characters in Disney for them. They loved the lighthouse tour!

We're Back...

from Nantucket...yup that's a beach shot from within a rented Wrangler. The girls thought it was pretty cool to be able to drive on the beach. Ok, so did we...it never gets old for me. It is a special little island + this time I loved sharing it with my 3 little Barefoot Princess' + their Daddy.
