Our American Girl Adventure
I have to admit I have dreamed of this day since the moment the doctor announced that we had a little girl. Well, he first said called her a moose, but that is another story!! A trip to the American Girl store in New York is a must for a little girl. There are only three in the country - New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. I loved my American Girl as a child and The Barefoot Princess is very attached to her Bitty Baby, which is one of their dolls too. We thought this would be a perfect way to celebrate her birthday. The Barefoot Family, yes all three of us, we would not dream of going without Daddy, made record time getting into the city on Tuesday morning and BP talked about the "city" and "me city" all the way there. We met BP's very good friend Mona, her Mommy, and of course her Bitty Baby, "Bella" at the store.
Our first stop was the Beauty Salon where the girls checked their babies in for a facial and hair wash. It was absolutely adorable! The stylists put the babies in the little chairs and cleaned them up. The Barefoot Princess' Baby was quite dirty, I guess from all the tractor rides and BP dragging her everywhere for almost a whole year now. After the salon we headed to the fourth floor, which is entirely designated to Bitty Baby and her accessories, for a little shopping. The girls chose a few items and then proudly carried their bags to the Cafe for lunch. In the cafe we had a delicious four course meal beginning with cinnamon buns, then a fruit and cheese platter, next was an entree of our choice and finally a birthday dessert for The Barefoot Princess. The Bitty Babies were given little chairs and place settings too!! BP was in heaven as we all sang to her once again for her birthday.
After lunch we visited the other floors to see the historical dolls and their scenes and accessories. The store has a hospital too, but BP's Baby and Mona's Bella did not have any ailments so we did not need to go there. I did see a mom carrying a Bitty Baby that had lost its head so I assume she was headed to the hospital. The American GIrl store experience was priceless and more fun than I could have imagined. The Barefoot Princess had a smile on her face and giggled all day!! I was worried that at 2 she may be a little young, but I think she really enjoyed herself!! We have decided to make this a yearly tradition for our Barefoot Princess.

Oh, I love this! BP looked like a Birthday Beauty and I noticed Bitty has a new outfit, too. How sweet. My favorite picture is the one with BP holding the shopping bag!
I love the smile on her face, you can tell she just loved every minute of the day. What a wonderful day for all three of you, and for Bitty Baby!
Oh my!! The pictures are amazing. BP looks THRILLED to be there, and loving every minute. What a super treat for her on her Big Girl Day.
Oh, and you're so in trouble. Now that Bitty Baby has been in the lap of luxury, she'll never go back. Only the best for Bitty Baby going forward!
BP-Happy BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! It looks like you had a great time celebrating! Bitty is one lucky baby! Love your friend, Shaelin
