Aaahhh...Simplicity

I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but the most amazing thing happened on Sunday while I was in the shower. Daddy and BP and BB cleaned the playroom! I wish I had before and after pictures. They not only cleaned it, but really simplified it. Let me back up for a minute. I have been trying to cut back on the playroom clutter and toys the girls do not play with for months. Everytime I walked into the room I would get disgusted and frustrated and turn around and walk out.
We figure we send BP (and next year BB) to a Montessori school where everything is streamlined, simple, and organized and NOT overstimulating and then were NOT following through at home. It just did not make sense. Daddy to the resuce...I said to him in amazement, "How did you do it?" He replied, "It was easy, I had them help and all I had to do is get them to buy into the idea." Ok, easy peasy, right? Why didn't I ever think of that? So the girls weeded out what they really love and play with often. They each moved their baby beds to their rooms and they made a basket of "baby toys" for baby G. With so much more space in the playroom they decided to move the dollhouse downstairs where they could play with it more. And get this...they were so excited and proud of what they did. Everytime I walk by the room or play in there with them I breathe a sigh of relief. So I owe a big THANK YOU to Daddy who really knows how to motivate his two little ladies.

Laundry Baskets

We don't need new toys for Christmas...BP and BB are happy with laundry baskets. It amazes me how many different games they can create with just a simple laundry basket. Oh and Daddy too!

New Coupe

The "Cozy Coupe" is a favorite toy. We only had one unitl BP spotted one for sale at a second hand store by her school. We pulled up, checked the price, paid the lady $10, and loaded it in the car. In a matter of three minutes we were the proud owners of a used coupe. BB slept through the whole thing. They have played with the coupes everyday since!

Blocks

The Barefoot Baby recieved these Melissa & Doug blocks for Christmas from her Uncle Matt and Aunt Nicole. BB and BP played with them ALL weekend. They provided hours of building fun for the girls and us too. Well, building for BP and knocking down for BB. (Thanks Matt and Nicole) I cannot tell you how much I LOVE all the Melissa & Doug toys. Made right in CT, and often made of solid wood, these toys will last forever. You cannot go wrong with Melissa & Doug.

Welcome Kit

Meet Kit, she is an American Girl doll and a new member of our family. Kit was an early birthday present for BP. All the American Girl dolls represent a different time period. Kit is a clever girl from the 1930's who faces The Great Depression with spirit and determination. BP chose her because "she has short yellow hair" like hers and she looks like her friend Tilda at school. That is exactly what she will tell you. I think it is funny that she chose a doll from The Great Depression considering the state of our economy right now, but BP has no clue. Although when we were reading Kit's book today, and it told of the characters lining up for bread and cheese, BP was curious about this so I tried to explain the circumstances to her. So now BP cares for Kit and Bitty Baby and her other dolls everyday. Our family just keeps growing!

BP's New Barn

This was one of The Barefoot Princess' Valentine's Day presents. We had been looking for a wooden barn and found it at A.C. Moore. It is made by Melissa and Doug and is very sturdy and of course made in the USA. I did not realize A.C. Moore had so many quality wood toys. We went looking for new 'Tommies' and stumbled upon this.

An Old Favorite

The Barefoot Princess was very excited to share an old toy with The Barefoot Baby. The Barefoot Baby was ready for a little stimulation and playtime, she was becoming rather bored in her baby papasan.

We Love Little People

We spend a lot of time playing with the Fisher Price Little People. The Barefoot Princess has the dollhouse, farm, schoolbus, and plane and the characters that go along with these sets. Last year I tried to get the Thanksgiving set, but it was impossible to find anywhere. This year we are ahead of the game and want to give any other Little People fans a heads up that the Thanksgiving and Christmas sets are hard to find, so start looking now and save them for later!!! You can buy them at fisherprice.com
