Music Together Halloween Class

Here is BB with her friends at Music Together class. They all came in costume and then had a little party after. BB wanted to be a puppy, but she is not digging the hat with long floppy ears so she kind of looks like a cow in the pics above. She loves class and Miss Tanya her teacher.

New Favorite Music

Besides the old standbys Barney, Taylor Swift, and Enchanted, The Barefoot Princess' new favorites artists are The Zac Brown Band and Kid Rock. She loves ZBB's new song 'Chicken Fried', introduced to her by her Daddy, and also Kid Rock's, 'All Summer Long' which she calls the "rock and roll song". I guess part of developing her own little personality means she has ner own taste in many things and music is one of them!

BP's DJ

photo from flickr

A mother wears so many hats. Some of them are rather serious, some are rather funny. I realized the other day that not only am I The Barefoot Princess' chaffeur, but also her personal DJ. When we are in the car and sometimes on our way to the car she tells me what song she would like to listen to. As we are driving I hear her from the back seat telling me her special requests. This is what one would hear in our car...

"Mommy, Ho-Ho song please." (yes we are still listening to Christmas music in February)

When that finishes, "Other one Mommy." (Other one= Jolly Old St. Nicholas)

"Dee-Dee Shoes please."

"Moe's Song."

"Beach Barney." (Mr. Sun, from the Beach Barney movie)

"Sea, Sea, Sea, song mommy."

"Hannah, please." (Hannah Montana, who I have to say I am really starting to like, should be mom confession #4)

And then she says things like "OOOOH I like this song," when I have the radio on and Fergie's 'Glamorous' comes on.

She definitely has developed her own taste in music and she has her favorites!

The Barefoot Princess and The Bops

We took The Barefoot Princess to see "The Bops" at Madison Square Garden last weekend. The concert was awesome and BP sat in awe of the whole expereince for the first half of it. She barely moved a muscle (which is amazing for a 2 year old) and had a look of amazement on her face the entire time. I think she could not get over that DeeDee, Rooney and Moe were actually alive and right in front of her. And when I say right in front of her, I mean it, because BP's Daddy managed to get some really awesome seats at the last minute. After the intermission, The Barefoot Princess came around and started dancing in the aisle to her favorite songs by her favorite rock band. She is still talking about seeing the "Bops" in the "city" almost a week later!

The Barefoot Musical Munchkin

Today was The Barefoot Princess' first music class for this semester! We haven't seen her teacher Miss Andrea in a little over a month, since the summer session ended, and BP really missed her and the fun of Musical Munchkins! I personally love the uninterupted 45 minutes I get to spend singing and dancing with my little BP. This is definitely one of the perks of being a stay-at-home-mom! And yes, Miss Andrea requires that all the moms sing too! I also love the way BP watches and listens to her teacher play the guitar with such bright-eyed amazement. There is nothing like live music for little ears to hear. The Barefoot Princess enjoys shaking the maracas, dancing, singing, jumping and clapping to the music. She was excited to see two of her friends, Gavin and Grace, in the class, and ran to the door to greet them with a big "Hi!" when she saw them enter the classroom. At the end of the class, BP gave Miss Andrea a big hug and said "Bye!" We promise to take some pictures next week of all the fun at Musical Munchkins!

The Bops

CD, DeeDee Costume, and Book
All from Amazon

The Barefoot Princess calls them "The Bops" and she loves them!!! The Doodlebops are a band of three, Deedee, Rooney and Moe, and they have a show on the Disney channel. They are full of energy and sing songs that are very catchy. I often find myself singing them around the house and still listening to the CD after BP has long fallen asleep in the car. I have even heard BP's Daddy singing some of their songs. The Barefoot Princess asks for them whenever we are in the car. She thinks they should always be on TV and when they are not she is disappointed. She even pretends to talk to them on the phone. Our favorite song to sing and dance to in the car is "Get On the Bus". I have to admit that I welcomed The Doodlebops because it gave us a little break form Barney!!!

Barefoot Princess' First Concert

The Barefoot Princess is a big fan of Herman's Hermits. We did not realize until last Saturday night at the Children's Day Concert, which was in honor of her late Great Gandpa. She had a blast dancing to all their songs and shaking her glow stick. She even clapped and screamed after each number. Watch out Peter Noone we may have a new groupie!! I think I may even purchase one of their CD's to play in the car for her!!
